What is the difference between using digital technologies as a tool versus as a medium?
Now a days contemporary arts express much of what we call digital art. This is in many ways another tool to express our artistic abilities. As we travel forward in time we find our selfs with outstanding ways, mediums, and technologies to use as tools. Trying to find new ways; and invent something that has never been done before is much of what inspires us. The way technology works is by always bringing new ways and opportunities, as is discussed in chapter 2. We all just use it for different purposes. As artists we have taken a new approach with digital technologies. Using technology more as a tool to create a sort of medium. Among the forms that a digital artwork can take are installation, film, video, internet, software, virtual reality and musical environments. Good example of a new method that using a tool as a medium can be “Telesymphony” by Golan Levin. Music becoming an important part of digital technology. Making music in the creative ways, using cell phone as tool to created music.
